Effect of nano yttria-stabilized zirconia on properties of Ni-20Cr composite coatings

In the present work, 5 wt.% and 10 yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) nanoparticles were reinforced in Ni-20Cr powder deposited on boiler tube steel using a high-velocity oxy-fuel spraying process. The effect of YSZ reinforcement microhardness, surface roughness porosity was investigated. hardness highest for nanocomposite coating with found to increase decrease porosity. microstructure elements characterized field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) an energy dispersive spectroscope (EDS). constituents identified X-ray diffractometer. It that composite has range 1008-1055 hv. During process, nano particles dispersed gaps between micrometric particles, providing better matrix than conventional Ni-20Cr. showed results terms mechanical microstructural properties during investigation.
